On Friday, the 30th of June 2023, the Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga (RCKV) marked a memorable occasion as members gathered to celebrate their 24th President Installation Night.
The event brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, government officials, friends, family, and prospective members eager to join the Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga.
Amid the festivities, the evening signified a significant transition for the club, bidding farewell to outgoing president Prof. Geoffrey Rugege, who received heartfelt appreciation for his exemplary leadership. Outgoing board members were awarded certificates in recognition of their dedicated service.
The event welcomed a new chapter as incoming president Livingstone Nkuusi took the stage. In his address, Nkuusi praised Prof. Rugege’s achievements and pledged to continue the club’s mission of supporting communities. He emphasized his commitment to streamline the membership process for those eager to contribute to the club’s cause.
The ceremony introduced Nkuusi’s new board and included the pinning of new cabinet members. Seven individuals were inducted as new club members, each receiving a pin symbolizing their commitment to Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga’s values and principles.
The evening concluded with a lively dance as guests celebrated the beginning of a new era for the Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga.
Notable guests included Clare Akamanzi, CEO of Rwanda Development Board, who commended the club’s efforts in community initiatives. She appreciated projects like the Rotary House for cancer patients, a public library, and youth mentorship programs. Akamanzi extended best wishes to Nkuusi, emphasizing continued support and collaboration.
Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga, a part of Rotary International, a non-political and non-religious humanitarian service organization uniting over 1.4 million leaders worldwide. The club focuses on seven key areas, including education, disease prevention, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, economic development, peace promotion, and environmental protection.
Currently, 10 Rotary Clubs operate across the country.
