Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga was started in 1999 and was chartered in the year 2000 to facilitate all the English-Speaking community in Kigali to become Rotary Members. Rwanda has 12 Rotary clubs out of which 8 of them are situated in the capital city Kigali. RCKV is one of the English-speaking clubs in the country as most clubs have French speaking members.
The Club has initiated and seen the birth and growth of 4 Rotaract and 4 Interact Clubs around Kigali. These active clubs continue to grow in membership, and we are proud to guide them along the Rotary path.
Our club meets Every Wednesday, 7:00PM to 8:00PM at Highland Suite Hotel, Kigali, Rwanda. To make our fellowships interesting we have also devised the following types of organising our fellowships with specific focus on each week with varying agenda to keep the interaction levels high for members.
Regular fellowship: Discussion of general Rotary issues, upcoming projects or reports about ongoing/ accomplished projects, activities of the Rotaract and Interact Clubs sponsored by RCKV, activities like home hospitalities or courtesy visits to other clubs, reports from board meetings, etc.
Guest speaker: A guest speaker from either outside or inside the club presents a topic, and club members can discuss. Non-Club Members are preferred as guest speakers, to make Rotary better known to the public, as the guest speaker usually spreads the word about the meeting he/she attended. To allocate as much time as possible to the guest speaker, other agenda items should only be accepted if they cannot be postponed.
Social Gathering: To allow members to socialize with each other, to build better friendships, to get to know each other better and to create even stronger networks among members, we gather once a month in a different restaurant. Guests are always welcome to our fellowships, but this format is most interesting for guests and Rotarian visitors, as they have the chance to get to know members in a very casual and relaxed atmosphere. To allow informal interaction, formal agenda items should only be accepted if they cannot be postponed.
We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
